I understand this is part of a rather up-level program , an academic level program with in "Yrkeshögskolan?
If so I know that this is a very much sought after education. How difficult is it to get in? Do you use some kind of tests of skill and creativity to choose students? The students do get at high level of skill in both CAD, textile production systems and design?
Would be interesting to know your thoughts and didactic metods on how to develop creativity and "feel" for fashion and style?
In this building there is a lot of different educations, everything from high school, municipal adult education, university and different kinds of post-secondary educations. Everyone with focus on textiles in different shapes.
Some educations have some sort of admissions tests. I am not sure how the tests looks like nowadays. But I had to accomplish a lot of tests during a whole day. The tests was about reading and understanding and sew a couple of details like pockets and other details. I remember that we had some questions about different kinds of fabrics and some examples of cloth that we should know.
About the creativity and the feel for design...my personal aspect is that a lot comes from the teachers, the surroundings and from the students.
It almost seems like it's in the walls and in the city of Borås...the citizens of Borås are living and breathing this textile heritage.
What type of jobs does the textile/fashion industry offer to graduated students? what types of courses do you offer and how long do the courses go for? Do you offer day or night courses?
I'm not sure about the different kind of courses, but I'm going to take a evening course next year. I know that the University have a lot of different programmes.
The perfect place for those studying fashion design/ fabrics and construction! I love the old buildings, is "Fabriksgaten" a street name?
ReplyDeleteBryggaregatan and Fabriksgatan are the names of the streets were the school is located..
