5. Don't forget to draw straight lines!

I always tell my students the importance of these straight lines!

  6. Is the student, patternmaking or grading in this photo? Do you do only manual patternmaking/grading or do you teach computerized patternmaking/grading

    1. The student is making a pattern for her blouse. They have both manual patternmaking and computerized patternmaking.

      I think it's important that they learn how to practise both skills.

  7. Yes I was also interested in your use of computers and CAD-based work.
    How much interested are the students in design with the aid of computors?

    1. As I wrote earlier I think it's very important that the student learn to do it manually at first, so they know how to draw the straight lines.
      When they begin to work at an office they have to know how to do it in the computer.

  8. The student 'LOVE' CAD- based work. They learn the basic pattern-making/grading/drawing then we introduce the CAD-based. From there the students learn both and we tried to integrate both in the sense what they manually pattern-make and in their CAD class they may pattern-make or grade a similar style in CAD. Almost all the students have designed on computer for their final presentation and most have pattern-made and/or digitised and graded they manual patterns on CAD

    1. It's so much easier to do the grading on the computer, and so nice result!

    2. Much easier and nicer results, but students do need to know manual and how to draw a straight line.
